The Mardi Gras Curling Funspiel and Pancake Breakfast was recently held at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club. Even though Mother Nature did her best to weak havoc on the weekend with a late winter storm, the weekend was once again an overwhelming success. Shown in the picture above is the winning team skipped by Glen Rogers and fellow teammates Norman Weibe, Tim McCardle and Stephen Gaudet. The NAPA Provincial Auto Parts Mardi Gras Funspiel had 40 teams participate in the three day event. Also on Saturday morning, to coincide with the curling, we held our annual pancake breakfast. Even though there was a small storm the night before, the turnout was still excellent!
A significant portion of the proceeds raised from the weekend support our STRIVE Scholarship fund, which awards five $1000 scholarships to Three Oaks students. Over the past 8 years, Rotary has provided over $40,000 in scholarships to STRIVE participants. The remainder of the proceeds is used for various Rotary projects throughout the community.
