Rotarians are people of action who dedicate themselves to service above self. That's why we joined Rotary. During the pandemic it's been challenging to find ways for Rotarians to get out in their communities to engage in hands-on projects. With the addition of "The Environment" as the 7th area of focus, we have been presented with a golden opportunity to get out and get our hands dirty.
The District leadership and Environment Committee challenge clubs across 7810 and 7820 to get out into their communities on the weekend of June 4/5 for a "Day of Service". The focus is on service but if clubs can engage in environmental projects on this weekend, even better.
Club Presidents have been asked to indicate whether their clubs intend to participate. Once the committee has an idea of who will participate we will start to develop resources and provide support to clubs so that they can effectively carry out their projects.
This is a great opportunity to raise the profile of Rotary in your community and across the Districts, build partnerships with other organizations, connect with your community, engage Rotarians and of course, have a positive effect on your local environment. To indicate their intent to participate, clubs can fill out the very short form at https://forms.gle/BVuYKcBqbXkPqeKD8 or email us at RotaryAtlEnv@gmail.com

World Water Day, held on 22 March every year since 1993, focuses on the importance of freshwater. World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.
